Alice (Richardson) Harding

ALICE RICHARDSON HARDING

April 9, 1935--February 14, 2023

Mrs. Alice Richardson Harding, age 87, a resident of Washington, North Carolina departed this life peacefully, at her home on February 14*, 2023. Alice was born in Hampton, VA on April 9, 1935 to the late Dorothy Elizabeth Hayes. She move to New York City at an early age and graduated from Wadleigh High School. After graduating from high school, Alice continued her education by studying to become a Certified Dental Assistant. She was also employed as a Social Worker at Bellevue Hospital in New York. On August 29, 1959, she married Archie A. Harding. They were united in Holy Matrimony for 63 years. In 1979, she moved to Washington, NC with her family.

After completing a record keeping course at Beaufort County Community College, she was employed as a Deputy Clerk of Superior Court in Washington, NC. She retired in 1983, and became co-owner of A-Harding's Shop-n Bag Grocery Store with her husband, Archie.

Leaving to cherish her memory is her husband, Archie A. Harding of Washington, NC;

Gail Harding Franklin of California, Allen Harding on New Mexico, and Lowell Harding of Georgia, six grandchildren, five great-grand children. Three brothers-in-law, Donald Harding (Sandra), Fenner Harding (Patricia) of Washington, NC; and Martin Burks of Bronx, NY; Three sisters-in-law, Alice Harding Williams, Janice Harding Gibbs of Washington, NC, and Jessie Harding Burks of The Bronx, NY, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be held Friday February 24, 2023, at Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church in Washington, NC, at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens Cemetery. There will be a wake Thursday afternoon February 23, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. Arrangement are by Leon Randolph Funeral Home.
